About the Event
Join us on December 14th and celebrate the end of the Fall semester with us as we watch the 2019 film WEATHERING WITH YOU by Makoto Shinkai! The follow-up to the 2016 global phenomenon Your Name, Weathering With You is about how "the summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…" With beautiful animation and great music, you won't want to miss this one!
The screening is free and open to all NYU students who register for the event on NYU Engage. In partnership with GKIDS, the film's North American distributor, we'll also be giving away some free goodies to those who attend (while supplies last)!
